About the Foundation
The Foundation for the Declaration of the Rights of Children (FDRC) was founded in 1988 by Jocelyne Jocya, an internationally acclaimed singer and recording artist, on the premise that all children should enjoy certain basic fundamental rights such as equal rights without regard to culture, race creed or nationality; the right to freedom from all forms of violence and exploitation and the right to health and education. It is the belief of the Foundation that the only way to ensure a better tomorrow for all children is to protect these basic rights. The goal of the Foundation is to heighten international awareness about the plight of children who have been denied these rights. FDRC plans to use its expertise in the arts and communication to regularly produce entertainment and cultural events to generate substantial support for direct aid to children, as well as assistance to grass root organizations that promote children's issues within the scope of its work. The Foundation is also seeking to have an International Day of the Child declared. The theme song of the Foundation FOR YOU CHILDREN was written by Jocelyne Jocya and Angie Dickinson, performed and recorded by Ms. Jocya and world renowned singer Paul Anka and produced by Humberto Gatica. UNICEF chose this song for their December 1999 International Children's Day of Broadcasting theme. Pierre Cardin, world famous fashion designer, philanthropist and Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO, is the Patron-Honorary Chairman, with Pierre Salinger former Press Secretary of President John F. Kennedy as the International President. The other members of the Foundation's Board of Directors have a wide-ranging background in the arts and communications. Founder Jocelyne Jocya is the chairperson. |
